WARRENSBURG, MO -- The Miners recorded 38 top ten finishes at the Mule Relays yesterday, including first place finishes by
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) in the weight throw and
Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) in the 60m hurdles. Additionally, Fraser's marks of 16.73 in the shot put and 18.64 in the weight throw were good enough to pass the NCAA Division II provisional marks.
The Miners began their meet with jumps and throws early in the afternoon.
Noah Misukonis (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) and
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) started the day off strong for S&T with fourth and fifth place finishes, respectively, in the pole vault. The women's team followed that up with a four top ten finishes in the long jump, with
Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) taking fourth with a mark of 5.32.
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) took third and hit the provisional mark in the shot put a few events later, with
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) finishing just two spots behind him in fifth.
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) stood out again as the best thrower for the women, taking second in weight and seventh in shot. Her mark of 12.58 in the shot put is the third best in S&T history.
Sam Schmidt (Washington, MO/St. Francis Borgia) and
Evan Mitchell (Shawnee, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) took second in each of their events, with Mitchell adding a sixth place finish later in the 800m as well.
Olivia Miles () performed well in sprints for S&T, finishing fifth in 200m and seventh in 400m.
What's Next
The Miners will compete at the Principia Relays in a meet that begins on January 30
th.
