ROLLA, Mo. –
Emma Puetz (Rolla, MO/Rolla) broke the school record in the 5,000-meters Saturday afternoon, heading six first place finishes by Missouri S&T competitors at the Dewey Allgood Invitational held at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
Puetz recorded a time of 17:27.85 in the 5,000, breaking the previous record by 15 seconds that was established by Megan Schulte six seasons ago. It was one of two event wins recorded by Puetz on Saturday, as she took first in the 1,500-meters earlier in the afternoon in 4:42.14.
The Miners grabbed the top two spots in the pole vault, which was won by
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) as she cleared 10-6; teammate
Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) finished second as she went over the bar at 9-8¾.
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) captured first in the long jump with a mark of 17-7½, as did
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the high jump with a clearance of 5-5¼ and
Sydney Stephens (Plattsburg, MO/Plattsburg) in the hammer throw with a mark of 145-1
Stephens also finished second in the shot put with her top mark of 40-8½ and Smith added a second place showing in the triple jump as she had a leap of 37-10¼. S&T also got second place times of 59.85 seconds in the 400-meters and 26.30 in the 200-meters from
Elizabeth Saitz (Affton, MO/Lutheran South) and of 19:04.66 in the 5,000-meters from
Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso).
Clare Holmes (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton) finished fourth in the 1,500-meters in 4:54.69 and the 800-meters in 2:24.02; she finished just ahead of Giesler's time of 4:58.44 that put her in fifth place in the 1,500.
Paige Lambright (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) was fifth in the shot put as she posted a throw of 37-10 and also had a seventh place finish in the hammer with a throw of 129-1, while Stephens was fifth in the discus at 129-feet and Lambright was right behind her with her top mark of 128-feet.
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) finished sixth in the javelin with a throw of 106-6, in the high jump with a clearance of 4-10¼ and in the 200-meters in 27.17 seconds, while
Grace Johnson (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville) was seventh in the 400-meters in a time of 1:03.98.
S&T's 4x400-meter relay team of Holmes, Johnson,
Isabelle McGuire (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall) and
Allison Rush (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) finished seventh with a time of 4:43.04.
