ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T got a school record performance from
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) in the hammer throw among three event wins as the men's track & field team opened its outdoor season this weekend at the Miner Invitational at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
Luebbert, competing in a strong field in the hammer throw, broke the school and facility record in the event Friday with a mark of 215-9 that he achieved on his fifth throw. He defeated GLVC indoor weight throw champion Levi Graham from Lewis, who had a mark of 211-6 and NCAA Division II weight throw champion Peyton Barton of Missouri Southern, whose top mark was 210-11.
S&T also got winning performances on Saturday from
Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:45.52 and from
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) in the 1,500-meters in a time of 3:56.80, while second place finishes were recorded by
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) in the discus throw with his mark of 172-11,
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the 400-meter hurdles with his time of 55.29 seconds.
The Miners' 4x100-meter relay team of
Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson), Wright,
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) and Samuel Schmidt placed third in that event with a time of 42.86 seconds, while Burke finished third on an individual basis in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.79 seconds.
Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) also had a third place showing in the long jump with his leap of 22-2¼ along with
Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) in the 5,000-meters with his time of 15:06.23.
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) tied for fourth in the pole vault as he cleared 14-1¼, while
Rhet Liley (Jackson, MO/Jackson) had a fourth place showing in the javelin throw with a mark of 184-7 and
Dawson Sherer (Galena, MO/Galena) was sixth with his throw of 182-6, while
Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) took fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.71 seconds.
Levi Frisbee took sixth in the steeplechase in 10:19.71 along with Craft in the 110-hurdles in 15.64 seconds, Samuel Schmidt in the 100-meters in 11.03 seconds and
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) in the shot put where he posted a throw of 51-4¼.
Fraser also placed seventh in the hammer with a mark of 178-11 as did
Aaron Geissinger (Abilene, KS/Abilene) in the steeplechase in 10:22.45 and
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) tied for seventh in the pole vault with his clearance of the bar at 12-11½.
Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) had a seventh place performance in the triple jump with a leap of 43-4½ and also finished ninth in the long jump with his mark of 21-0¼.
Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) grabbed eighth in the discus throw with his top performance of 142-1, while Luebbert finished 10
th in the shot put with his mark of 47-4½ as did
Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) in the discus with a throw of 139-8,
Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the javelin with a throw of 167-7,
Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) in the triple jump at 41-8 and
Caleb Graham (Carl Junction, MO/Carl Junction) in the pole vault as he cleared 11-11¾.
The Miners were also sixth in the 4x400-meter relay as the team of
Aiden Kearns (St. Charles, MO/Luthern-St. Charles),
Tim Greiner (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University High),
Logan Binger (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit North) and
Evan Mitchell (Shawnee, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) finished in 3:38.41.
Missouri S&T will take part in the Bearcat Invitational next Saturday at Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo.
