PITTSBURG, Kan. – Missouri S&T's men's track & field team wrapped up competition at the two-day Gorilla Classic with four top-15 finishes and a pair of school records on Saturday in the meet held at Pittsburg State University.
Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) had a sixth-place showing in the triple jump with a leap of 47-2½ to lead the top performances among the field event competitors on Saturday; the mark was 0.02 meters off the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark.
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) finished eighth in the shot put with a performance of 54-6¼, while
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) was 12
th with a mark of 50-11.
S&T also had a sixth place showing from
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) in the 3,000-meters in 8:18.19, which was less than a second off the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard and which also broke the school record in the event by nearly 14 seconds.
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) also set a new school standard in the mile, as he posted a time of 4:13.23 in that race on Saturday.
The Miners will compete at Illinois College next weekend in their final meet before the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships.
