Miners Record Five Top Ten Finishes at Meets in Pittsburg, Kansas

PITTSBURG, KS  --  Missouri S&T opened up their 2024 season at the Boo Rogers and Crimson & Gold Invitationals over the weekend, getting five top ten finishes.
 
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) recorded the highest finish of any Miner at the meet, placing fourth in the women's high jump and tying her career high mark… clearing 5' 5.25". She finished just 0.01 meters behind the NCAA provisional mark.
 
Vince Scott (Gilberts, IL/Hampshire) and Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) both placed well in the men's triple jump, with Scott taking 5th on a 47' 0.25" jump while Chadwell came in 8th with a mark of 44' 3.25". Meanwhile, Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) came in 10th in the men's high jump with a mark of 6' 2.75".
 
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) scored 3,232 points in the pentathlon, setting a personal best in the shot put with a mark of 31' 1". Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) had a strong showing in both the shot put and the weight throw, putting up a mark of 40' 11.75" in the former for the fifth highest mark in S&T history.
 
Other strong performers were Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) who came in 13th in the triple jump, Ayden John who placed 29th in the 60-meter, and Samuel Schmidt who took 20th in the men's 200m.
 
What's Next
The Miners will be back in action after the winter break with a trip to Mizzou on tap to compete in the Alexis Jarrett Invitational.
