ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Basketball took down Cottey on Saturday night with a final score of 85-46.
The Miners went up 15-10 after the first quarter.
Franchesca Metz (Downers Grove, IL/Nazareth Academy) started out the quarter with an early three-pointer to set the tone. She had five of the 15 first quarter points for S&T. The home team never trailed in the quarter.
S&T started out the second quarter the same way they started the first, with a three-pointer from Metz. After Cottey put a three-ball through, the Miners went on a 16-point run, capped off by an
Addyson Kent (North Vernon, IN/Jennings County) three-pointer. The first half ended with a 38-18 Miners lead.
After a 23-8 second quarter, Missouri S&T outscored Cottey 22-19 in the third quarter. Kent drained two three-pointers in the third quarter. They limited the Comets to only four baskets made in the quarter with the rest of their points coming via free throws.
Missouri S&T closed out Cottey after they put up 25 points in the fourth quarter to nine for the Comets.
Kiarra Kilgore (Galesburg, IL/Galesburg) and
Chorus Davis (Kansas City, MO/Lincoln College Prep) both tallied five points in the quarter. The Miners took down the Comets with a final score of 85-46.
Their 85 points is the most the Miners have scored in a regulation game since Nov. 15, 2022, against Baptist Bible. S&T shot 50.8% from the field and 35% from the three-point line. They outscored the Comets in the paint 42-18 and 22-4 off turnovers. The Miners also collected 52 bench points and 16 fast break points.
Kent led the Miners with 12 points and 4-for-8 three-point shooting. Metz recorded 10 points, two rebounds and two steals.
Katelynne Roberts (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) picked up nine points, seven rebounds and three blocks. Davis also had nine points and
Norah Gum (Waterloo, IL/Waterloo) and
Bonnie Lew Ludlow (Indianapolis, IN/Covenant Christian) both had eight. As a team, the Miners grabbed 49 total rebounds as every player for S&T had at least one.
What's Next
The Miners will welcome Hannibal-LaGrange on Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. Their next game is scheduled for Nov. 27 versus Emporia State. The first leg of GLVC play will be against Lincoln on Dec. 2 at Gibson Arena.
