INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T completed its track & field performances at two different meets in the Midwest with three second place finishes and a school record at the IUPUI Invitational as well as a pair of top-two showings at the Principia Relays on Saturday.
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) recorded one of the second place finishes for the Miners in the shot put as he had a throw of 54-10¾, following up his third place finish in the weight throw on Friday.
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves), who won the mile on Friday, finished second in the 3,000-meters in a school record time of 8:28.32. finishing just a second in back of Indianapolis' Felix Revit.
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) also had a second place showing in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.37 seconds, with teammates
Luke Myszka (Downs, IL/Tri-Valley) finishing third in 8.59 and
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) fifth in 8.64 seconds.
Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) earned a fourth place finish in the triple jump with his mark of 45-3¾, while
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) finished sixth in the invitational mile in 4:15.53 and
Ethan Crouch (Rolla, MO/Rolla) was seventh in the shot put with his mark of 50-8.
In the women's competition, Olivia Henkel had the highest finish among the Miners as she was sixth with a clearance of 5-3¼, while Grace Geisler recorded a time of 11:03.03 in the 3,000-meters and Victoria Regitz was right behind her in 11:05.80.
A number of other Miners were at the Principia Relays in Elsah, Ill., where they got four top-eight finishes on the day.
Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) won the triple jump with a mark of 43-8½ and
Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) got fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.69 seconds, while
Caleb Schoenberg (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) finished seventh in the 3,000-meters in 9:13.65 and
Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) finished in eighth in the shot put with a mark of 44-2.
Hailey Smith finished second on the women's side in the triple jump with her mark of 36-5¾ to pace S&T's efforts on that side of the ledger.
On Friday in Elsah, Lauren Fenoglio won the pentathlon, while Elizabeth Rothweiler placed second in the women's pole vault with a clearance of 10-4 and Jenna Mueller went over at 9-10 to finish third.
Fenoglio recorded 2,718 points in the five-event competition, which included the best marks in the shot put at 31-2 and 800-meters with a time of 2:43.80 and having the second-best showing in the long jump with a mark of 16-5 3/4.
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) finished fourth in the men's pole vault as he cleared 14-3¼, while
Evan Hendrickson (Bolivar, MO/Bolivar) and
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) each cleared the bar at 12-9 ½ to finish eighth and ninth, respectively.
The Miners will have their teams at two meets next weekend as they will be at the Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan., and the Bearcat Invitational at Northwest Missouri State in Maryville, Mo.
