With five top-five finishes, Miners place fourth at Mule Relays

WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Missouri S&T's women's track & field finished in fourth place as a team and had a school record as well as five top-five finishes on Friday as it competed at the Mule Relays at the University of Central Missouri.

Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) was the highest finisher for S&T Friday as she was the runner-up in the high jump with a clearance of 5-3¼, while Paige Lambright (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) placed third in the shot put with a mark of 41-8 that broke the previous S&T standard by over seven inches.  The Miners also got a fourth-place finish in the shot from Sydney Stephens (Plattsburg, MO/Plattsburg) with her throw of 39-5.

Elizabeth Saitz (Affton, MO/Lutheran South) finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 16-2¼ along with Clare Holmes (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton) in the mile with her time of 5:47.49.  Saitz also posted a time of 8.01 seconds in the preliminaries of the 60-meter dash.

Sydney Clark (Arnold, MO/Fox) had a sixth place showing in the weight throw with a mark of 45-8 as did Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) in the pole vault as she cleared 10-feet; Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) also cleared 10-feet in the pole vault and ended up seventh based on misses. Lauren Fenoglio was seventh in the long jump at 15-10½ along with Grace Johnson (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville) in the 800-meters in 2:39.62, finishing immediately ahead of Allison Rush's (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell Central) time of 3:11.58.

Stephens took eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 44-10¼, while the throw of 44-feet by Lambright was good for ninth.  Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) was 10th in the high jump with a clearance of 4-9½ and just missed qualifying for the six-runner finals of the 60-meter hurdles by 0.01 seconds with her time of 10.29 seconds.

Missouri S&T's next competition will be at the Principia Multis next Friday and Saturday in Elsah, Ill.
