LONG BEACH, Calif. – Missouri S&T's track & field teams wrapped up its weekend in California with a number of seasonal best performances on the final day of competition, including a school record mark posted by Jessica Rhoads (Holts Summit, MO/Jefferson City) in the discus throw.

Competing at the Beach Invitational at Long Beach State, Rhoads recorded a mark of 145-6 to break the mark that had stood since 2006, topping Becca Kueny's old mark by five inches.

Nathan Swadley narrowly missed breaking his own school record in the shot put as he recorded a toss of 59-7½, just one-quarter of an inch off his record posted last season.  Swadley finished seventh overall in the competition at Long Beach State and was second among the NCAA Division II competitors behind Grand Valley State's Myles Kerner, who owns the best mark in the nation this season.

Swadley's performance Saturday – based on the marks posted nationwide through the reported meets heading into the weekend – is the seventh-best in the nation.

Tyler Marchert finished in fourth place in the shot put competition at the Bryan Clay Invitational at Azusa Pacific, posting his top mark of the year of 52-0¾, while Jake Anderson cleared a season-best 15-5¾ in the pole vault at the Beach Invitational.  Anderson also competed in the long jump and had a leap of 20-7¼.

In the running events that took place at Azusa Pacific, Sam Wright hit a seasonal best in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 55.06 seconds, finishing just ahead of Aaron Toben's time of 55.12 seconds.  Samuel Schmidt also had his fastest times of the year in the 100-meters of 10.68 seconds and 200-meters with his time of 21.94 seconds, as did Michael Pate in the 400-meters when he crossed the finish line in 49.39 seconds.

The Miners just missed their best time of the season in the 4x100-meter relay, as the team of Toben, Wright, Kyle Burke and Schmidt finished with a time of 41.81 seconds.  Burke also posted a time of 15.48 in the 110-meter hurdles, while Owen Fraser recorded a mark of 49-0¾ and Jacob Luebbert had one of 48-2¾ in the shot put.

Hayes Pateidl led a contingent of three Miners in the 1,500-meters at Azusa Pacific with a time of 3:56.54, while Daniel Garrison had his fastest time of the season of 3:58.67 as did Andrew Lofgren with his mark of 3:59.38.

Emma Puetz (Rolla, MO/Rolla) reached a seasonal best as well on Saturday in the 1,500-meters at APU, finishing with a time of 4:48.62 in her race, while Sydney Stephens (Plattsburg, MO/Plattsburg) recorded a mark of 36-1½ in the shot put.  At Long Beach State, Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) cleared 5-1¼ in the high jump, while Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) recorded a time of 5:00.52 in the 1,500-meters.
