ROLLA, Mo. – With a majority of competitors taking part in field events Saturday, Missouri S&T's women's track & field team had four top-four finishes in its first outdoor competition of the season at the Miner Invitational held at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
S&T's day was highlighted by a second place finish by
Jessica Rhoads (Holts Summit, MO/Jefferson City) in the discus throw as she recorded a mark of 141-1 to finish right behind Truman State's Ellie Weltha. The Miners also had a third place finisher in
Victoria Regitz (Rockville, MD/Rockville), as she recorded a time of 19:43.60 to take that spot in the 5,000-meters.
S&T got a fourth place showing from
Sydney Stephens (Plattsburg, MO/Plattsburg) in the shot put with a mark of 39-10¼, as well as from
Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the high jump as she cleared 4-11¾. Stephens would add a fifth place showing later in the day in the discus with a mark of 130-3.
The Miners' 4x400-meter relay team consisting of
Clare Holmes (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton), Regitz,
Aubrie Caldwell (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) and
Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) also finished fifth as it posted a time of 4:30.63.
Caldwell took sixth in the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:56.91, while
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) had a seventh place finish in the pole vault as she cleared 10-feet. Rhoads finished eighth in the shot put with a top mark of 36-3¾ as did
Paige Lambright (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) in the discus with her throw of 122-10.
The Miners will take part in the Southwest Baptist Invitational on Friday and Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.
