ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will host its first swimming meet of the 2023-24 season on Friday, when the Miners entertain Missouri-St. Louis and Rockhurst at the S&T Pool in the Gale Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. The meet, which also includes the women's teams from UMSL and Rockhurst, will get underway at noon.
S&T comes into the meet with four individuals that have made NCAA Division II provisional cuts in eight events.
Connor Bichsel (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit West) has reached provisional marks in three events, doing so in both individual medley races and 200-yard butterfly.
Noah Clancy (Alton, IL/Alton) has also made a provisional times in the 100-yard breaststroke and 200-IM, as has
Oscar Iden (Oslo, Norway/Oslo Private Gymnasium) in the 100-yard butterfly and
Adam Wiedemeier (West Monroe, LA/West Monroe) in the 100- and 200-yard freestyle
UMSL has four individuals that have reached NCAA Division II provisional marks, as Henrik Bechtel has done so in the distance freestyle races and onley Savage, Guillem Masjuan Roca and Aaron Wicklund in the individual medley race. Savage has also made provisional marks in both butterfly events and Roca has done so as well in the 200-yard backstroke.
The Hawks, in their first season of competition, have been impressive in the early going and have four NCAA provisional qualifiers in Omar Alba in the distance freestyle events, Alu Usama in the 100-yard butterfly and Alexandre Adum in the 200-yard butterfly and Mohannad Nada in the 100-yard breaststroke .
UMSL's women are ranked 19
th nationally and have five swimmers who have reached provisional qualifying marks thus far on the year.
