BOLIVAR, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's cross country team recorded a fifth place finish and had an all-conference performer in
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) Saturday morning at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Cross Country Championships at Bolivar Golf Course.
Rackers covered the eight-kilometer course in 25:31 to finish in 11
th place, earning one of the 20 all-conference spots as a result. After being in 28
th place at the two-kilometer mark of the race, Rackers moved up to seventh in the second segment before setting in at the 11
th place spot for the latter stages of the race.
Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) finished in 35
th place with a time of 26:45, while
Samuel Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) was 44
th in 26:51 and
Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) was in 48
th in 26:55.
Spencer Teske (Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley) rounded out S&T's top five with a 58
th place finish in 27:07, while the other two scoring spots went to
Zoran Rodriguez (Shawnee, KS/Bishop Miege) at 27:20 and
Caleb Schoenberg (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) at 27:24.
Lewis captured the team championship with a score of 44 points and had three of the top seven runners in the 160-runner race as it finished 11 points in front of Illinois Springfield. UIS' Cortland Ross captured the individual title in 24:36, 123 seconds ahead of Missouri-St. Louis' Benjamin VandenBrink.
Missouri S&T finished with 166 points in the meet.
The Miners will take part in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional in Evansville, Ind., on Nov. 4.
