S&T takes four events on second day at Principia Relays

ELSAH, Ill. – Missouri S&T's women's track & field team completed a successful weekend at the Principia Relays with four first place finishes and five additional performances among the top three in various events on Saturday.

The Miners got first place showings Saturday from Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) in the pole vault as she cleared 10-8, Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) in the 3,000-meters as she crossed the finish line in 11:05.62 and Lily Chung (Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central) in the 300-meter dash in 41.84 seconds, while Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) captured first in the high jump as she cleared 5-4¼ in a jump-off. 

S&T also got second place finishes from Rolla natives Kassandra Hayes (Rolla, MO/Rolla) in the triple jump with a mark of 31-10¾ and Emma Puetz (Rolla, MO/Rolla) in the mile in 5:22.68, as well as from Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the 300-meters in 43.23 seconds.  Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) had a third place performance in the high jump as she cleared 5-4¼ -- finishing third due to more misses during the competition – and Clare Holmes (Camdenton, MO/Camdenton) had a third in the 3,000-meters with her time of 11:39.53.

Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) finished in fourth in the pole vault at 10-2, while Aubrie Caldwell (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) took fifth in the mile with her time of 5:30.05.  Hayes added a sixth place performance in the high jump as she cleared 5-2¼ and S&T also got sixth place finishes from Paige Lambright (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) in the shot put with a mark of 37-6½ and Kayla Edwards (Troy, IL/Triad) in the 300-meters in 44.68 seconds.  Hope Strausbaugh (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville) finished eighth in the 3,000-meters in 12:14.96.

MIssouri S&T finished with five event wins over the two days, as Caldwell won the 5,000-meters on Friday.

Missouri S&T's next competition will take place Friday at the Lewis Invitational in Romeoville, Ill.
