Miners record 10 first place finishes in Dewey Allgood Invitational

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T had 10 winning performances Saturday, including two apiece by Emily Griesenauer (Wentzville, MO/Holt) and Jessica Rhoads (Holts Summit, MO/Jefferson City), as it competed at the annual Allgood-Bailey Invitational at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.

Griesenauer's two event wins came in the 1,500-meters with a time of 5:05 flat and in the 5,000-meters where he recorded a mark of 19:47.14.  Rhoads captured wins in the hammer throw with a mark of 140-9 and in the discus where she recorded a throw of 129-10.  Later in the meet, Rhoads placed fourth in the shot put with a throw of 35-9½.  

Other winners Saturday included Grace Giesler (Owasso, OK/Owasso) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 11:40.48, along with Megan Cook (Okawville, IL/Okawville) in the 800-meters in 2:30.48, Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) in the pole vault with a clearance of 10-8, Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) in the high jump as she cleared 5-7 and Maya Washington (St. Louis, MO/Homeschooled), who was victorious in the 100-meters in 12.39 seconds and also had a second place showing in the 200-meters in 26.11 seconds.

The Miners' 4x400-meter relay team of Laurana Mitchell (Peculiar, MO/Raymore-Peculiar), Lauren Hirsch (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South), Isabelle McGuire (St. Louis, MO/Nerinx Hall) and Jade Schneider (Quincy, IL/Quincy) also had a time of 4:40.31.

Sydney Stephens (Plattsburg, MO/Plattsburg) had a trio of second place showings, doing so in the hammer throw with a mark of 135-4, shot put with a mark of 40-1½ and in the discus at 129-4.  Delaney Guy (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard North) had second place efforts in the long jump with a leap of 16-8 and triple jump with a mark of 33-7½, while McGuire finished second to Griesenauer in the 5,000-meters in 20:20.71.

S&T's 4x100-meter relay team of Maya Washington (St. Louis, MO/Homeschooled), Guy, Kassandra Hayes (Rolla, MO/Rolla) and Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) also took second with a time of 53.16 seconds.

Third place efforts came from Hope Strausbaugh (Rogersville, MO/Logan-Rogersville) in the steeplechase with a time of 14:10.84, Paige Lambright (Poplar Grove, IL/Belvidere North) in the discus at 110-8 and shot put at 39-10, Brittany Moore (Fairfax, VA/Zama American) in the hammer throw at 132-6, Aubrie Caldwell (Dripping Springs, TX/Dripping Springs) in the 5,000-meters in 20:56.94, Hayes in the triple jump at 32-4¾, Olivia Henkel (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) in the high jump at 4-11¾ and Hirsch in the 400-meters in 1:07.22.

Schneider was fourth in the 800-meters in 2:47.97 as was Hayes with a clearance of 4-11¾.

A meet record was also set Saturday in the women's javelin throw by Rolla native Chantae McMillan, a former Olympic competitor who recorded a throw of 154-1 in that event.

Missouri S&T will compete in the Dick Creer Invitational at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., next Saturday.
