ROLLA, Mo. – A pair of Missouri S&T track & field competitors –
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) and
Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) – were named today among the athletes of the week in their sports by the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
Tyson earned her award after winning the high jump competition at the Blue Tiger Open at Lincoln University on Saturday, clearing 5-7¾ to record the best performance in the GLVC thus far in the 2022 outdoor season. Tyson's clearance also matched the third-best mark in school history and was just one-quarter inch off the school record.
She is currently ranked 10
th in NCAA Division II in the high jump after posting her best career mark in the event.
Luebbert posted the second-best performance of the season in the conference in the hammer throw with a mark of 186-7 that surpassed the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark. Luebbert was the top collegiate thrower at Saturday's meet as he finished second to an unattached thrower in the competition.
He also finished fourth in the shot put with a throw of 47-11 that is the seventh-best in the GLVC and added a season-best throw of 128-1 in the discus.
The GLVC weekly awards are the first for both of S&T's student-athletes.
Missouri S&T will host the Dewey Allgood Invitational Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium, with the hammer throw getting underway at 10 a.m., other field events at 11 a.m. and the running events at noon.
