INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T's men's track & field team got two individual conference championships and two school records on Sunday and held the lead in the standings at a couple of different points in time, but ended up finishing third at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships. Missouri S&T's women ended up posting an eighth place finish at the meet.
Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) broke both school and conference records in his winning shot put performance on Sunday, as he recorded a throw of 58-6¾ to edge Quincy's Paden Lewis, who was just one-quarter of an inch behind him in the event. The other win came from

Nick Janke (Rolla, MO/Rolla) came in second as he went over the bar at 6-5 and
Daniel McMurran (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University HS) was fifth with his clearance of 6-1¼.
Besides Swadley's school record performance,
Hayes Pateidl (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) also put his name in the record book again as he recorded a time of 8:33.54 in the 3,000-meters to earn a sixth place finish in that race. It was the second record Pateidl had a hand in this weekend, as he also part of the Miners' distance medley relay team that set a new standard and NCAA provisional qualifying time on Saturday.
The Miners had three of the top six finishers in the heptathlon, with
Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson) leading that group with his third place finish with 4,418 points.

Aaron Jones (Kansas City, MO/Ruskin) finished third in the triple jump as he posted a leap of 47-1½, while
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) came in fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.38 seconds as did

She stayed alive in the competition by clearing that height on her third attempt, but was unable to clear the next height of 5-6½, which was done successfully by Southwest Baptist's Lily Simmons to take the title.
The Miners also had two scorers in the shot put as Paige Lambright finished sixth with a mark of 39-8½ and Jessica Rhoads was right behind her with her throw of 38-11.
Kassandra Hayes had an eighth place showing in the high jump as she cleared 5-0½, as did Sydney Gratz in the pole vault as she cleared 10-7½ and Maya Washington in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.90 seconds.
