S&T's Pateidl lands GLVC Runner of Week award

10/5/2022 10:45:00 AM

ROLLA, Mo. – After posting one of the fastest eight-kilometer times in school history, Missouri S&T's Hayes Pateidl (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West) was named today as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's Runner of the Week in men's cross country.

Pateidl finished in 25th place overall and seventh among the NCAA Division II runners in the field at 356 runners in the McDonnell Memorial eight-kilometer event at the Chile Pepper Festival Friday, which was hosted by the University of Arkansas.  Pateidl's time of 24:28.6 was 17 seconds faster than the previous top marks by S&T runners recorded in an eight-kilometer event since 1995.

Joffroi Holcombe had a time of 24:45 at the Memphis Twilight Classic in 2007, then David Huskisson matched that time three years later at the Southern Stampede at Missouri Southern.

The GLVC weekly award is the first for a Miner since Duncan Clark earned the award during the 2018 campaign.

Missouri S&T will compete Friday at the TRXC Border War Championships at Principia College in Elsah, Ill.
