ALLENDALE, Mich. – Missouri S&T's Mitch Fairless (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne), one of two Miners competing this weekend at the NCAA Division II Track & Field Championships, took part in the high jump on Friday but did not clear a height in the competition.

With the bar set at exactly two meters – or 6-6¾ -- to begin the event, Fairless missed on all three of his attempts at that height to fall out of the competition.  He was one of two of the original 13 in the event that did not clear the opening height.

Texas A&M-Commerce's Ushan Perera won the event by clearing 7-1½, winning on fewer misses over Carson-Newman's Isaiah Kyle and Nebraska-Kearney's Brayden Sorensen.

Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard), Missouri S&T's other entry at the NCAA Division II Championships, will compete in the shot put on Saturday beginning at noon Central time.
