ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T had three individuals –
Hayes Pateidl (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley West),
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) and
Garrett Miller (Kearney, MO/Kearney) -- all win two events apiece as part of a day where Miner competitors collected 10 first place finishes in events at the Dewey Allgood Invitational Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
Pateidl won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:28.09 and later in the day overtook McKendree's Jimmy Reed in the final 25 meters to win the 800-meter run in 1:57.50. Rackers claimed his first place finishes in the 1,500-meters in 4:01.68 and in the 5,000-meters in 15:05.25 and Miller recorded firsts in the hammer throw at 183-10 and discus at 157-10.
The Miners also got event wins Saturday from
Luke Allen (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) in the long jump with a leap of 22-11¼,
Jarett Johnson (Webb City, MO/Webb City) in the javelin with a mark of 196-1 and
Aaron Toben (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) in the 400-meter hurdles in 57.03 seconds. S&T also had two of its competitors –
Nick Janke (Rolla, MO/Rolla) and Mitch Fairless – tie for the top spot in the high jump as both cleared 6-7 with an equal number of misses.
Nathan Swadley (Willard, MO/Willard) had second place efforts in the shot put with a mark of 54-1¾ and in the hammer with a throw of 178-feet, while seconds were also recorded by
Ethan Haller (Ballwin, MO/Marquette) in the 1,500-meters in 4:01.95,
Dane Huck (Warrenton, MO/Warrenton) in the javelin throw with a mark of 183-11, Allen in the triple jump at 45-2½,
Jake Anderson (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) in the pole vault at 14-0½ and
Andrew Lofgren (Chesterfield, MO/Parkway West) in the steeplechase in 9:44.79
S&T's 4x100-meter relay team of Toben,
Bailey Crone (Collinsville, IL/Collinsville), Augie Bindbeutel and Allen also finished second with a time of 43.12 seconds.
The Miners had a three-way tie for third in the high jump as
Aaron Jones (Kansas City, MO/Ruskin), Crone and
Daniel McMurran (St. Louis, MO/St. Louis University HS) all cleared 6-4 in the event. Miller finished third in the shot put at 47-0¼ as did Swadley in the discus at 153-5,
Eric Brice (St. Louis, MO/Cardinal Ritter College Prep) in the long jump at 21-2½,
Dakota Doupe (Jones, OK/Jones) in the 400-meter dash in 52.03 seconds and
Sean Hunter (Katy, TX/Cypress Lakes) in the 100-meter dash in 11.43 seconds.
Jadon Kilpack (Hallsville, MO/Hallsville) had a third place mark in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.12 seconds and also finished fourth in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-0½.
S&T got a fourth place showing from Bindbeutel in the long jump as he recorded a jump of 20-11¾ and in the 100-meters with a time of 11.86 seconds, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Lofgren, Pateidl,
Mark Krueger (Smithville, MO/Smithville) and Haller took fourth in 3:35.18.
The Miners also had a number of fifth place finishes Saturday, coming from
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) in the shot put with a mark of 45-3½ and hammer throw at 161-3, Jones in the long jump at 20-10¾,
Drew Schulte (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) in the 1,500-meters in 4:29.32 and Lofgren in the 800-meters in a time of 2:01.57.
Krueger had a fifth in the steeplechase in 10:38.17, as did Brice in the triple jump with a mark of 43-2½, Matt Weston in the discus with a mark of 134-3 and
Caleb Craft (Jackson, MO/Jackson) in the 400-meters in 52.91 and 110-meter hurdles in 16.50 seconds.
