ELSAH, Ill. – Missouri S&T's Nathan Swadley made an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark Friday night in the shot put to highlight the six wins recorded by the men's track & field team and two by the women's squad at the TRXC Timing Opportunity meet held at Principia College.
Swadley won both of his events Friday, making his provisional mark with a performance of 55-10½ in the shot put after winning the weight throw earlier in the day at 54-10¼. The Miners throwers dominated the top of the standings in those two events, capturing the top three spots in the weight and three of the top four in the shot.
The Miners also got event wins from Joseph Nickell in the pole vault as he cleared 14-11½, Luke Allen in the long jump with a mark of 21-7½, Nick Janke in the high jump with a clearance of 6-7 and Hayes Pateidl in the mile as he posted a time of 4:18.93.
Aaron Jones came in a close second in the long jump at 21-6¾, while Garrett Miller was second in the weight throw at 54-8 and Bailey Crone finished there in the high jump when he cleared 6-2. Caleb Craft also recorded a second place showing in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.08 seconds as did Aaron Toben in the 400-meters in 50.18 seconds and Lucas Rackers in the mile in 4:19.11.
Jacob Luebbert took third in the weight throw at 52-6 and Miller had a third in the shot at 47-11¾, while Janke added a third in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.37 seconds, Allen did so in the 60-meter dash in 7.34 seconds and Ethan Haller in the mile in 4:24.12.
Jake Anderson finished in a tie for third in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-11½ - he had more misses in the competition which dropped him to third – while Luebbert came in fourth in the shot put with a mark of 44-10¾ along with Dakota Doupe in the 400-meters in 53.29 seconds.
Crone took fourth in the long jump with a leap of 21-feet, just ahead of Janke's mark of 20-11¼ that placed him fifth. Craft had a fifth place showing in the high jump as he cleared 5-6 and Andrew Lofgren placed fifth in the mile in 4:31.22. Anderson produced an eighth place finish in the 60-meter dash in 7.46 seconds.
Among the women's competitors,
Maya Washington (St. Louis, MO/Homeschooled) recorded a winning performance in the 60-meter dash in 7.94 seconds and
Danielle Wilson (Mount Vernon, MO/Mount Vernon) won the 200-meters with a time of 26.77, edging Washington in that race as she finished second in 26.86.
Kassandra Hayes (Rolla, MO/Rolla) took second in the high jump with a clearance of 4-11¾, while
Anne Simpson (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) also had a second place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with her time of 10.47 seconds along with
Aly VanCardo (St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh) in the 800-meters in 2:37.33.
Jessica Rhoads (Holts Summit, MO/Jefferson City) had a third place showing in the shot put with a mark of 39-5¼ and in the weight throw at 43-9½, as did
Mia Magby (Wichita, KS/Maize) in the pole vault when she cleared 10-6¾,
Annmarie Tyson (St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) in the long jump at 16-7¾,
Keaton Painter (Morrisville, MO/Marion C. Early) in the 60-hurdles in 10.61 seconds,
Krista Hilmas (Rolla, MO/Rolla) in the mile in 5:41.75 and
Laurana Mitchell (Peculiar, MO/Raymore-Peculiar) in the 800-meters in 2:37.95.
Tyson was fourth in the high jump as she cleared 4-11¾, as was
Sydney Gratz (Geneva, IL/Geneva) in the pole vault as she cleared 9-1 and Wilson in the long jump at 16-6.
Delaney Guy (Glendale Heights, IL/Glenbard North) had a fourth place showing in the 60-hurdles in 10.65 seconds and also finished fifth in the long jump with a mark of 16-2½, while Wilson was fifth in the 60-meter dash in 8.25 seconds
Simpson recorded a sixth place showing in the high jump at 4-9¾, while Painter came in sixth in the long jump at 15-6¾ and in eighth place in the high jump.
