GENEVA, Ohio – The NCAA announced on Thursday that it is cancelling all of its remaining winter and spring championship events, which includes the NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Championships that Missouri S&T has participants in this week.

Following the first day of competition on Wednesday, Missouri S&T was ninth in the team standings.

The teams competed in the morning preliminary session, with Andy Huffman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) qualifying for the finals during that session with the eighth-fastest time of 3:52.19.  S&T's two relay teams that competed Thursday morning had also earned a spot in the consolation finals, with the quartet of Mark Cavanaugh (Papillion, NE/Papillion-LaVista), Marco Flores (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/SERAN Private Bilingual School), Colten Becker (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) and Chris Betts (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch) finishing 10th in the 400-yard medley relay preliminaries with a time of 3:14.44 – the second-fastest mark in school history -- and the team of Betts, Flores, Aaron Taske (Fairfield, OH/Saint Xavier) and Becker recording a time of 1:20.85 in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The finals in those events were cancelled following the NCAA announcement that came just after 3 p.m., Central time.
