ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T will host its final dual swimming meet of the 2019-20 season Friday evening when it takes on Truman State at the S&T Pool. The meet with the Bulldogs will get underway at 6 p.m.
Friday's meet will be the last for Missouri S&T prior to next month's Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships and prior to the start of the meet between the 11
th-ranked Miners and Bulldogs, Missouri S&T's six seniors will be honored – a group that includes two-time NCAA Division II champion
Tim Samuelsen (Stavanger, Norway/St. Svithun VGS) and All-America performers
Colten Becker (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest),
Chris Betts (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch) and
Aaron Taske (Fairfield, OH/Saint Xavier).
Taske comes into the meet with the fourth-fastest time this season in Division II in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a mark of 9:14.12, while Samuelsen owns the seventh-fastest mark of 9:17.96 and
Alex Graham (Parker, TX/Homeschooled) the ninth-quickest of 9:19.66. Samuelsen has also recorded the 10
th-fastest time in the 1,650-freestyle of 15:34.02 that he posted at Delta State last month.
In addition to his time in the 1,000-freestyle, Taske has the nation's sixth-fastest time in the 200-yard butterfly of 1:47.86 and has the 12
th-fastest mark in the 500-yard freestyle at 4:26.79.
Marco Flores (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/SERAN Private Bilingual School) currently has the 11
th-best mark in the 100-yard breaststroke of 54.67 seconds and
Andy Huffman's (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) times of 2:00.47 in the 200-breaststroke and 3:56.21 in the 400-yard individual medley are the 16
th-fastest this season in those events. Huffman also has a time of 1:50.28 in the 200-yard individual medley that currently ranks 20
th.
The Miners also rank among the top 15 nationally in three relays, with the 200-medley relay currently at 10
th in the nation, the 200-freestyle relay at 12
th and the 400-medley relay currently ranking 14
th.
Missouri S&T currently has 12 individuals who have made a national cut time either on an individual basis or as part of a relay team.
