ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's soccer team will seek to break into the win column in Great Lakes Valley Conference play this weekend as it will face the two league schools based in southwest Missouri.

The Miners will open the weekend by hosting Southwest Baptist Friday night at Allgood-Bailey Stadium in a 7:30 p.m. contest, then heads to Springfield Sunday to take on Drury at 2:30 p.m.

S&T opened its conference slate last Sunday with a 3-1 loss to 19th-ranked Maryville in St. Louis.  Down 1-0 at the half, the Miners drew even 10 minutes into the second half on a goal by Jacob Bandy (Bettendorf, IA/Pleasant Valley), but Maryville regained the lead five minutes later and added an insurance goal late in the contest to drop S&T to 1-2 overall.

Bandy is one of four Miners who have scored goals in the early portion of the season, along with Bertram Gjelfort (Frederiksberg, Denmark/Falkonergaarden), Paal Benum (Trondheim, Norway/Byaasen Videregaadende) and Tyler Sivadon (Spring, TX/Concordia Lutheran).  Sivadon assisted on Bandy's goal on Sunday and leads S&T with three points.

Nick Posey (Edwardsville, IL/Edwardsville) has started in goal in all three games and has a 2.29 goals against average on the year.

ABOUT SOUTHWEST BAPTIST:  The Bearcats enter Friday's contest looking for their first victory of the year, as they fell to 0-3 last Friday following a 4-1 loss to Drury.  SBU cut a two-goal Panther lead in half in the early stages of the second half on a goal by Kevin Zavala, but allowed another goal a short time later and a fourth goal in the waning moments of the contest.

The Bearcats have scored six times in their first three games, dropping a pair of one-goal decisions before the loss Sunday to Drury.  Isaiah Waddy has scored three of those goals and has a team-high six points, while Javier Munoz has a goal and two assists for four points.  Goalkeeper Will vanHoornbeek has a 3.62 goals against average and 24 saves thus far on the year.

ABOUT DRURY:  The Panthers were undefeated through their three games following the victory at SBU, which came on the strength of three goals by Jamie O'Brien, but dropped a 5-1 decision on Sunday to Union and will take a 3-1 into Friday's game at Maryville.

O'Brien leads the Panthers in scoring with his three goals and six points, while Pablo Berrogain has two goals and an assist for five points; both of Berrogain's goals were game-winners in 1-0 Panther wins.  Yannick Lamers has a 1.50 goals against average and two shutouts on the year in goal while making nine saves.
