KINGSVILLE, Texas –
Nathan Swadley's (Willard, MO/Willard) first trip to the NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships saw him finish in 16
th place in the shot put competition Saturday evening in the meet hosted by Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Swadley recorded a top mark of 56-5¾ -- just five inches short of his seasonal best – among his three attempts in the shot put. He opened with a throw of 53-1, then posted his best throw in the second round before closing with a throw of 53-5¾.
A total of 23 competitors took part in the shot put, where Findlay's Eldred Henry won the event with a meet record throw of 70-5 1/4, marking the first time in meet history that a participant cleared the 70-foot mark in the event.
