CLEVELAND, Miss. – Despite not adding any additional individual qualifiers on Friday evening, Missouri S&T's swimming team did reach four additional provisional qualifying times as it remained in third place in the team standings at the Delta State Christmas Invitational.

The Miners hit all four of the B-cuts in the morning preliminaries, as Andy Huffman (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) made a mark in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:56.21, Aaron Taske (Fairfield, OH/Saint Xavier) did so in the 100-yard butterfly in 48.95 seconds and a pair of Miners – Marco Flores (San Pedro Sula, Honduras/SERAN Private Bilingual School) and Josh Umrysh – reached that standard in the 100-yard breaststroke.

Flores, who would finish third in the event, had a top time of 54.67 seconds and Umrysh posted a 55.28 in the morning before taking sixth in the finals.

Flores and Mark Cavanaugh (Papillion, NE/Papillion-LaVista) had the highest individual finishes for S&T on Friday, as Cavanaugh placed third in the 100-yard backstroke in 49.69 seconds.  Flores and Cavanaugh were also part of the Miners' 400-yard medley relay team along with Taske and Chris Betts (Katy, TX/Cinco Ranch) that took third in 3:17.29.

Taske was fourth in the 100-butterfly and Huffman also took fourth in the 400-IM.  S&T also got a fifth place showing Friday from Alec Davis (Joplin, MO/Joplin) in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:41.21, just ahead of teammate Connor Wiedemeier's time of 1:42.69, while Alex Graham (Parker, TX/Homeschooled) placed seventh in the 400-IM in 4:04.71.

Huffman finished eighth in the 100-breaststroke 56.23 seconds and Colten Becker (Overland Park, KS/Blue Valley Northwest) also took eighth in the 100-butterfly in a time of 50.09 seconds.

The Miners have recorded 1,179 points through the first three days of the meet as they trail host Delta State and Lindenwood in the team standings.  S&T is well ahead of fourth place Missouri-St. Louis – a lead of greater than 300 points over the Tritons – as the meet reaches its final day on Saturday.
