Rolla, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners look to bounce back from a tough loss on Saturday when it hosts the Westminster College Blue Jays on Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the Bullman Multi-Purpose Building. Wednesday's game is the third of a four game homestand to close out the first half of the season for the Lady Miners (5-3).
After a slow start on Saturday, S&T picked it up in the second and third quarters shooting over 60 percent from the floor and turned a one-point deficit into a 14-point lead heading into the final quarter. The Lady Miners struggled in the fourth quarter making only three of 14 field goal attempts and turned the ball over six times in the frame.
Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) was the lone player to finish in double figures scoring 10 points while
Raetchel Gray (Allen, Okla./Byng ) dropped in nine.
Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia) continues to lead the team in scoring with 10.5 points per game.
Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) is adding 8.5 points per contest off the bench while Douvier is contributing 8.0 points per game and
Aricca Daye (Des Moines, Iowa/Des Moines East) is dropping in 7.9 per contest.
Kim Runge (Freedom, Wis./Freedom) leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 boards per contest and Daye leads the team with 35 assists.
Westminster is 2-6 on the season after a splitting a pair of games in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference over the weekend. The Blue Jays opened conference play with a 79-68 win over Fontbonne then fell at Greenville 81-62.
Andrea Zalis, a Rolla native, leads Westminster in scoring and rebounding with 16.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per contest and became a member of the 1,000 point club earlier this season against William Woods. Mirrakohl Johnson is averaging nearly 11 points and eight rebounds per game while Kelsey Ray leads the team with 31 assists.
