S&T heads north to take on Rangers and Flyers

ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners take its two-game winning streak on the road this weekend as it heads north to take on the two hottest teams in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis. Parkside is currently riding an 11-game winning streak while Lewis is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in Division II.

The Lady Miners (6-15, 2-11 GLVC) earned their first two GLVC wins of the year this past weekend with a 40-point win over McKendree last Thursday and then rallied from a nine-point first half deficit to defeat Illinois Springfield 82-70 on Saturday.

Janie Arand (Washington, Mo./St. Francis Borgia), the team's leading scorer at 9.4 points per game, averaged 20.5 points last week on 16-of-31 (51.6 percent) from the field and was 9-for-18 from beyond the arc. She also averaged four rebounds, 2.5 and a steal in the wins.

Brittany Andersen (Saint John, Ind./Andrean ) is averaging 7.8 points per game, Leigh-Ann Kesper (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) is dropping in 7.3 per contest and Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) is contributing 7.2 a game. Jamy Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) continues to lead the team in rebounding with nearly five rebounds per game while Kesper is averaging 4.6 rebounds per contest.

The Rangers enter Thursday's contest with a record of 18-4, 11-2 in the GLVC after picking up a pair of road wins last weekend at Rockhurst (70-51) and William Jewell (67-54). They're the top defensive squad in the conference allowing just 57.3 points per contest and haven't allowed an opponent to top 70 points since losing at Truman State 78-66 on Jan. 2. They've held eight of their last 11 opponents to 60 points or less.

Parkside is led in scoring by senior Gaby Bronson with 12.7 points per game while junior Kristin Conniff is dropping home an average of 10 points a game. Bronson also leads the team in rebounding and assists.

Lewis enters action this week as the top ranked team in both the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA and D2SIDA Media Top 25 polls with a record of 23-0, 13-0 in the GLVC. The Flyers entertain 17th ranked Drury on Thursday evening before hosting the Lady Miners on Saturday afternoon.

Lewis is the top scoring team in the GLVC averaging nearly 85 points per game and has won 22 of its 23 games by double digits. As a team, it's shooting nearly 48 percent from the floor, 38 percent from beyond the arc and 78 percent at the foul line. It's outrebounding opponents by over 7.5 rebounds per game.

The Flyers have four players averaging double figures in scoring led by Jamie Johnson with 19.5 per contest and she also leads the league in scoring as well. Mariah Brawner-Henley is third in the GLVC in scoring with 17.9 a contest and she leads the league in rebounding with 12.4 per game. Jess Reinhart is dropping in 13.8 per game and Alexus Grayer is averaging 10.5 a contest.
