ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners will attempt to get back on the winning track on Saturday in a non-conference against College of the Ozarks beginning at 5:30 p.m. The Lady Miners look to snap its three-game losing streak while College of the Ozarks enters Saturday's contest having won three in a row.
S&T (3-3) was once again undone by turnovers in its loss to Drury on Thursday evening turning it over 27 times resulting in 30 points for the Lady Panthers. In their last four games the Lady Miners have turned the ball over 94 times and have been outscored 79-22 in points off turnovers.
S&T has been shooting ball decently through the first six games making nearly 45 percent of its shots from the floor and is shooting 37 percent from beyond the arc. However, the Lady Miners are shooting just 68 at the free throw line.
Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) continues to lead S&T in scoring averaging nine points per game while
Leigh-Ann Kesper (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) and
Sandra Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) are averaging 8.7 and 7.0 points respectively. Kesper also leads the team in rebounding with 6.5 per contest while
Demetria Snaden (Evansville, Ind./Evansville North) has dished out a team-high 14 assists.
College of the Ozarks enters play on Saturday with a record of 5-4 after its 70-68 upset win over Central Methodist on Tuesday night at Point Lookout, Mo. The Lady Bobcats are averaging 71.0 points per game and allowing 69.1 per contest. They're shooting 41 percent from the field but only 28 percent from the three-point line. They're also outrebounding their opponents by nearly two per game.
Kayla Kepler leads a group of three double figure scorers for College of the Ozarks with an average of nearly 17 points per game; she has scored 14 or more points in eight of the team's nine games this season. Hannah Wisdom is averaging 11.2 points a game, while Uchtman is scoring 10.9 a contest. Kepler is also the team's top rebounder with 6.4 per game, while Wisdom has a team-high 48 assists.
Saturday's contest is the 19
th meeting all-time between the two schools and the first in 10 seasons. The Lady Bobcats lead the all-time series 11-7 and have won six of the 10 meetings in Rolla. The Lady Miners last win in the series came back on December 10, 1993 which was an 87-44 win in Rolla.
