S&T opens GLVC play on Thursday night against Drury

ROLLA, Mo. – The Missouri S&T Lady Miners return home on Thursday night opening conference play against the Drury Lady Panthers at 7 p.m. at Billy Key Court. Thursday's contest is the beginning of another four game homestand for S&T as it closes out the first half schedule. The homestand continues on Saturday when the Lady Miners host College of the Ozarks at 5:30 p.m.

S&T is out to break a two-game losing streak when it takes the floor on Thursday evening. Turnovers have been a problem in the last two games as the Lady Miners have turned it over 42 times and have been outscored 49-6 in points off turnovers.

S&T ranks amongst the GLVC leaders in field goal percentage (45.3), three-point field goal percentage (37.7), defensive field goal percentage (36.6) and defensive three-point field goal percentage (27.1). The Lady Miners are averaging 63 points per game while yielding 64.6 per contest.

Elsie Greenwood (Breckenridge, Mo./Penney High School) leads the Lady Miners in scoring with 9.4 points per contest while Leigh-Ann Kesper (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) is averaging 8.6 points per game. Sandra Douvier (Sedgwick, Kan./Sunrise Christian Academy) and Brittany Andersen (Saint John, Ind./Andrean ) are each averaging 6.8 per contest. Kesper and Douvier are the leading rebounders for S&T pulling down 6.8 and 5.8 rebounds per game respectively.

Drury enters Thursday's contest with a record of 4-2 and are ranked 13th in this week's WBCA Top 25 Coaches' Poll. The Lady Panthers snapped its two-game losing streak last Saturday with a 93-52 win over Northeastern State (Okla.) behind 13 points from Hannah Dressler. Ana-Carlota Faussurier added 12 points while Heather Harman finished with 11 in the win.

Drury leads the conference in free throw percentage having converted on 85 percent of its attempts and are second in the league in scoring averaging almost 82 points per game. Annie Armstrong leads three Lady Panthers in scoring with 16.5 per contest while Sanayika Shields is averaging a double-double with 11.3 points and 10.8 rebounds per contest. Addy Roller is contributing 10.3 points per game. Roller also leads the team with 21 assists.

Thursday's contest marks the 24th meeting all-time between the two schools with Drury holding a 17-6 advantage. The Lady Panthers won both meetings last season taking a 76-59 win in
Springfield on December 5 and a 91-54 victory in Rolla to close out the regular season.
