Live Video Live Stats(Rolla, Mo.) – It's a busy weekend for the Missouri S&T volleyball squad as they'll play three matches over a two-day span starting with its annual Dig Pink match on Friday evening against Quincy at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Miners will host Truman State in a GLVC contest at noon and then will play Harding at 7:30 p.m.
For Friday's match against the Hawks the first 100 S&T students with a valid student I.D. card through the door will receive a free pink t-shirt. The Miners will also be doing a "Dig-a-thon" raising money for every dig they make in the match. They'll be taking flat donations or a per dig sponsorship. In addition to that the team will also be selling raffle tickets for one of the pink volleyball's that the team will be playing with this month. During the intermission for fans that want to take part in the serving contest can do so by donating a dollar for a chance to win a prize.
S&T enters play on Friday night with a mark of 9-7 and 6-3 in the GLVC after going 2-1 last weekend. The Miners kicked off the week with a four set win over Drury rallying from a set down last Tuesday. Over the weekend S&T traveled to St. Louis dropping a hard fought four set match at Missouri-St. Louis and then swept Maryville on Saturday.
Krista Haslag (Linn, Mo./Helias ) leads the Miner attack averaging 2.55 kills/set and is hitting .326 percent for the season. She's just 10 blocks shy of becoming the all-time leader in S&T history. Allie Plunk (Hurst, Texas/Birdville) is averaging 9.25 assists/set and recently moved into second place for assists in school history. Defensively Jackie Pyles (West Bloomfield, Mich./West Bloomfield) is averaging 4.36 digs per set while Emily Jaeger (St. Louis, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) is averaging 3.19 digs/set.
Quincy comes into Friday's contest with a record of 3-13 and 1-8 in GLVC action. The Hawks snapped a seven match losing streak sweeping past William Jewell last Saturday at home.
As a team Quincy is averaging 11.4 kills/set and has a hitting percentage of .170. Samantha Haegele leads the team with 124 kills, Bekah Raebel has 114 kills while Briann Joslin and Carly Schmitt have 97 kills apiece. Friday night's match will feature two of the better blocking teams in the GLVC with the Hawks ranked third while the Miners are ranked fifth in the conference.
On Saturday S&T will play Truman at 12 p.m. and then play Harding at 7:30 p.m. The Bulldogs and Bison will play each other at 3:45 p.m.
Truman enters play this week as the lone remaining unbeaten team in league play at 9-0 and are 13-2 overall. The Bulldogs carry an 11-match winning streak into Friday's contest at Drury. Truman went undefeated last week with sweeps of Quincy and William Jewell and a hard fought five set win against Rockhurst.
Allie Brak and Kayla Bastian led the Bulldog attack averaging 3.57 and 3.16 kills/set respectively. Truman is averaging 13.45 kills per set and has an attack percentage of .246. Meghan Zimmerman is averaging nearly 11 assists per set while two-time reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week Abby Moser is averaging 4.6 digs/set.
Harding enters play this week with a record of 9-5 and are 4-2 in the Great American Conference. The Bison host Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State this week before heading up to Rolla for Saturday's match.
Offensively Harding has an attack percentage of .204 and is averaging 13.3 kills per set and is led by the tandem of Marindia Turner and Liv Savage with 3.04 and 2.90 kills/set respectively. Taryn Eubank is dishing out nearly 10 assists per set while Anna Leigh Cargile has dug up 200 balls.
