ST. PETERS, Mo. – Missouri S&T's swimming team got first place finishes Saturday from
Colton Krause (Bartlesville, Okla./Bartlesville) and
Ethan Goldfarb (Arlington, Texas/The Oakridge School), but came up on the short end of the score on both ends of its double dual meet with Saint Louis and Lindenwood at the St. Peters Rec Plex.
Krause won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:54.78, winning by more than a second over Lindenwood's Victor Munoz, while Goldfarb captured first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a mark of 2:04.97 to win by more than three seconds over Austin Nguyenphu of Saint Louis.
The Miners got a second place showing from
Keith Sponsler (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln East) in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:43.93, while
Jon Glaser (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette) placed third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:39.04 as did
Luke Norris (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands) in the 50-yard freestyle in 21.88 seconds, Goldfarb in the 200-yard individual medley in 1:55.84 and 500-freestyle in 4:41.89
S&T's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Norris, Glaser,
Luis Nesrala (Santo Domingo, D.R./Colegio Amador) and Sponsler posted a time of 3:11.56 to finish third in that race.
Nesrala was fourth in the 50-freestyle in 22.01 seconds as was Krause in the 200-IM in 1:58.04,
Chase Davis (Tulsa, Okla./Union) in the 200-butterfly in 2:02.01, Glaser in the 500-freestyle in 4:42.08 and Norris in the 100-freestyle in 48.05
S&T's 400-yard freestyle relay team of Nesrala,
Drew Larkins (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central), Davis and Krause also finished fifth with a time of 3:37.69.
Saint Louis topped the Miners by a count of 144-78, while Lindenwood had a 153-78 edge on S&T.
The Miners will host their first home meet of the season Friday when they take on Delta State at 5:30 p.m. at the S&T Pool.
