Morris became the 17
th Miner student-athlete to land Academic All-America honors in the past year – more than doubling the previous top mark of eight for the program for an academic year – and putting S&T alone at the top of the Division II list. Missouri S&T had one more recipient than Colorado School of Mines and two more than a pair of institutions within the NCAA Midwest Region, Grand Valley State and Indianapolis who finished with 15 honorees apiece.
The list of Academic All-America selections for S&T is headed by four members of the men's volleyball team – Tyler Johnwick, Grant Edmonds, Bartosz Chmielewski and Caleb Rohlwing – that were part of the Miners' Great Lakes Valley Conference championship team in 2026. Three men's track & field student-athletes – Henry Born, Owen Fraser and Otto Knittel – were selected as were two members apiece from the men's soccer and swimming teams.
Joao Vieira and Mike Banasik were the representatives from the men's soccer team on the academic squad, as were Jordan Christensen and Adam Wiedemeier from the swimming team. In all, 10 S&T athletic teams had representation among the 16 Academic All-America teams announced during the academic year.
The other S&T student-athletes to earn the academic honors were Morris, Bentley Hart (football), Adriana Benassi (women's soccer), Andrew Young (men's basketball), Rizq Adam Rohizam (golf) and Taylor Nelson (softball). Of the 17 selections, which included a record seven first-team honorees, 16 of them also earned All-GLVC honors in their respective sports on the playing field.
Missouri S&T also topped the list of Academic All-America selections in the GLVC and had nearly one-fourth – 24 percent – of the 71 selections representing 12 of the 15 league institutions. It also became one of 18 schools in the history of the CSC Academic All-America program dating back to 1952 to have at least 17 recipients in a single academic year; some of the 18 institutions have had at least 17 selections on multiple occasions.
In addition, the 17 selections in one year is the second-most ever in GLVC history – Uindy had 22 named in the 2022-23 academic year – and 11
th-most all-time in NCAA Division II history. This past season, S&T was seventh among institutions covering all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA, a list headed by Stanford's 30 selections.

The 2025-26 season was not only a successful one on the field for Missouri S&T's athletic teams – which saw 10 programs qualify for post-season play at either the conference or national levels, 22 student-athletes earn all-region honors and 13 land on an All-America team – but also on the academic end.
Missouri S&T set new program records not only for its number of Academic All-America selections, but also on the conference academic lists for Academic All-GLVC members (381), honorees on the Br. James Gaffney Distinguished Scholars (92) and Council of Presidents Academic Excellence (48) lists, as well as having a record 14 teams earn the GLVC's Team Academic award.
Missouri S&T also had 62 student-athletes selected to CSC Academic All-District teams in the past year – also a record – and had three of its Academic All-America winners named as the conference's Scholar Athlete of the Year in Fraser (men's track & field), Edmonds (men's volleyball) and Vieira (men's soccer).
Fraser earned two additional academic awards of significance during the year, as he was the recipient of the NCAA Elite 90 Award (second all-time for S&T) for Division II indoor track & field and was also the seventh all-time S&T competitor named as the Academic All-America of the Year in his sport as part of the overall team selection earlier this week. He will be eligible for the overall Academic All-America of the Year award that will be announced on July 29.
With this year's selections, Missouri S&T has now had at least one Academic All-America selection in 26 consecutive seasons.
