VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Missouri S&T thrower Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) has been named the recipient of the Elite Scholar-Athlete Award, recognizing the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average competing at the finals site of an NCAA championship.
The Elite Scholar-Athlete Award honors student-athletes who have excelled at the highest level of collegiate competition while maintaining exceptional academic success. Eligible honorees must be at least a sophomore academically and have participated in their sport for a minimum of two years at their institution. In the event of a tie, the award is determined by the number of credits completed.
Fraser, a mechanical engineering major, posted a 4.0 cumulative GPA during the 2025 fall term, highlighting his excellence in the classroom while competing at the national level for the Miners.
The award adds to a standout indoor season for Fraser. He claimed the GLVC Indoor Championship in the shot put and finished runner-up in the weight throw at the conference meet. Fraser also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors and was named the USTFCCCA NCAA Division II National Athlete of the Week following his performances during the season.
Fraser represents Missouri S&T at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships, where his combination of academic achievement and national-level competition earned him the Elite Scholar-Athlete distinction.
