ROMEOVILLE, IL -- Both Missouri S&T track and field teams rank 3rd through the first two days of the Great Lakes Valley Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships. The Miners had one event winner on Friday, with
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) setting another GLVC record and USTFCCCA top 10 mark to win the discus.
Fraser beat his 60.60m mark from early this season in yesterday's discus, throwing 60.90m on his final throw of the day. His mark is both a new GLVC record as well as school record. Fraser is now tied with Jason Stuke for the 8th on the USTFCCCA Division II all-time performance list.
Fraser was not the only one with success in throws yesterday though.
Matthew Hoffman (Reading, PA/Exeter Township) destroyed his previous personal record in the discus by nearly 4 meters with a mark of 49.59 that earned him all-conference, placing 3rd overall.
Duane Carter (Trussville, AL/Hewitt Trussville) and
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) both recorded top 10 finishes yesterday as well.
Maya Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) and
Lauryn Fenoglio (Granite City, IL/Granite City) both earned all-conference in the heptathlon, placing second and third. Fenoglio's 4,349 points was a new PR, previously recording a best of 3,740 points.
Ali McClure (St. Louis, MO/Kirkwood) took 5th in the women's long jump, setting a new PR of 5.61m that is also the fifth best mark in program history. A total of three Miners recorded top 10 finishes in the men's and women's pole vault.
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) and
Wilson Klein () both finished with a mark of 4.52m in the men's PV, placing them 5th and 6th. The 4.52 was a new PR for Klein.
What's Next
The final day of competition at the championships is already underway with the women's high jump and the men's triple jump.
