ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Baseball fell to Drury on Sunday afternoon to split their weekend series.
Panthers 5, Miners 2
Guided by a three-RBI performance from Kaden Byrne, Drury took down Missouri S&T on Sunday to salvage a series split.
The first run of the game was scored in the second inning after Byrne blasted a solo home run for Drury.
The Miners responded in the fifth inning as they took a 2-1 lead.
Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) singled,
Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) was hit by a pitch and
Nick Krodinger (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto) advanced them with a sacrifice bunt. Meyer scored on a wild pitch and
Tyler Prince (Mexico, MO/Mexico) brought in Baugus to make the score 2-1. The Panthers answered in the sixth with two runs.
Starter
Andrew Hedgecorth (Smithville, MO/Smithville) took his first loss of the season after he threw 5 1/3 innings with three runs surrendered on six hits and one walk. The right-hander fanned two.
Nick Currie (Granville, IL/Putnam County) struck out three in 2 2/3 scoreless frames.
Lucas Riebeling (Columbia, IL/Columbia) was charged with two runs in the ninth inning.
Jacob Cook (Shorewood, Ill./Minooka Community) recorded a scoreless frame with one punchout.
Drury put up two insurance runs in the ninth inning as the game ended 5-2.
Meyer, Baugus, Prince and
Jack Bell (Andover, KS/Andover Central) all had a hit for S&T.
Aiden Cizek (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) walked twice. In a very tight series, the two teams split their four games.
The Miners moved to 21-15 overall and 13-11 in the GLVC after the loss on Sunday. They are in sixth place in the conference with eight GLVC games left.
What's Next
S&T will play Pittsburg State on Tuesday afternoon at home at 3 p.m. After that game, they will go to Wisconsin-Parkside to play four games from Apr. 17-19.
