WARRENSBURG, MO -- Missouri S&T's throwers had another strong showing, at yesterday's Mule Relays, led by
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) and
Sydney Morris (Jefferson City, MO/Calvary Lutheran) who both set school records.
Morris destroyed the old S&T shot put record, tossing four throws further than the old record of 13.22m and ending with a new best of 13.70m. The mark was enough to earn her 5
th place at the meet. She also set a new personal record in the hammer throw with a 45.63 mark that is fifth best in S&T history.
Fraser continued his domination in throws, breaking his own school record in the discus again with a 60.60m throw that is #1 in the nation this season. He also set personal records in both the hammer and shot with provisional marks that now rank 8
th and 2
nd in all of Division II, respectively. The men's javelin had four Miners make the top eight with
Rhet Liley (Jackson, MO/Jackson) taking 3
rd,
Nolan Sebourn (Eureka, MO/Eureka) 5
th, Jake Salazar-Blair 6
th, and
Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) 8
th.
The men's and women's pole vaulters combined for five top ten performers.
Wilson Klein () had the highest finish of the group, taking second in the men's PV by clearing 4.45m for a new PR.
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) and
Noah Misukonis (Bloomington, IL/Bloomington) took 5
th and 8
th for the men, while
Elizabeth Rothweiler (St. Charles, MO/Duchesne) and
Jenna Mueller (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) went 7
th and 10
th.
Luke Bass (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) led the Miners in the men's high jump, finishing 9
th by clearing 1.91m.
Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) took 10
th in the triple jump with a 13.28m mark.
Hailey Smith (Wentzville, MO/Timberland) rounded out the top ten jumpers for the Miners, taking 5
th in the triple with an 11.22m mark.
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) and
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) were the only two men's S&T runners to place in the top 10, with Wright taking 4
th in the 400 hurdles and Bacon placing 10
th in the 1500m. On the women's side,
Mary Kimmerle (Lathrop, MO/Liberty North) set a new PR in the 100 hurdles, placing 6
th with a time of 15.01.
