Miners and Panthers Split Pair of One-Run Games

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Baseball split their doubleheader with Drury on Saturday afternoon with a 5-4 loss and a 2-1 win.

Game 1: Panthers 5, Miners 4
 
In game one of a seven-inning doubleheader, Drury won 5-4 over Missouri S&T.

Drury took an early 1-0 lead and held it until the fifth inning, where S&T took a 2-1 lead. Nick Hooper (Grain Valley, MO/Grain Valley) and Jackson Evans (Overland Park, KS/Olathe North) both led off the frame with a walk. Landen Roberts (St. Clair, MO/St. Clair) advanced them with a sacrifice bunt. Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) scored Hooper via sacrifice fly and Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) singled to make the score 2-1.

Starter Dylan Bates (O'Fallon, MO/Fort Zumwalt West) tossed five innings and gave up an unearned run. He struck out two with his 92 pitches thrown. Cody Hazzard (Mazon, IL/Yorkville Christian) took his second loss of the season with three unearned runs yielded in 1/3 of an inning. Bode Gebbink (Saint Joseph, IL/Saint Joseph-Ogden) surrendered an unearned run.

After S&T scored two in the fifth, the Panthers put up four runs in the sixth inning. In the seventh, the Miners attempted a comeback. Roberts walked, Meyer singled and Beckham advanced them. Nick Krodinger (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto) singled to plate a run, while an error scored another to make the score 5-4 that finalized. 

Lucas Riebeling (Columbia, IL/Columbia) pitched 2/3 of an inning and Bryce Morgan (Benton, MO/Kelly) threw 1/3 of an inning. Michael Streb (St. Louis, MO/Oakville) fanned two in 2/3 of an inning.

Krodinger was 2-for-3 with a walk and one RBI. Meyer recorded a hit and Beckham extended his hitting streak to nine games.

Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) stole a bag for S&T and Tyler Prince (Mexico, MO/Mexico) was hit by a pitch three times.

Game 2: Miners 2, Panthers 1
 
In game three of the four-game series, the Miners won 2-1 over the Panthers.

S&T and Drury were scoreless until the fourth inning. Krodinger led off the fourth inning with a solo home run to left field, his fifth of the season.

The Panthers answered in the sixth inning to tie the score at 1-1. In the bottom half, Beckham tripled to right field to start the frame. Krodinger walked and stole second. Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) singled to score a run and make the score 2-1.

Jake Schisler (Quincy, IL/Quincy Notre Dame) earned his fourth win of the 2025 season with 6 2/3 innings pitched. The right-hander was charged with one run on three hits, three walks and three punchouts. Riebeling picked up his first collegiate save after he recorded the final out of the game.

Beckham's triple marked his 11th straight game with a hit. Krodinger homered, while Smith and Denton Damgaard (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) both tallied hits.

On the bases, Krodinger stole his third bag of the season.

Missouri S&T moved to 21-14 overall and 13-10 in the GLVC after the win. They sit in fifth place in the GLVC standings with one more game this weekend.

What's Next

The Miners will go for the series win on Sunday against Drury at 12 p.m. After that game, the Miners will host Pittsburg State on Apr. 15 at 3 p.m. They will go to Wisconsin-Parkside from Apr. 17-19 to play a four-game series.
