SEARCY, Ark. – Missouri S&T Baseball downed #17 Harding 13-0 on Tuesday afternoon at Jerry Moore Field.
Miners 13, Bisons 0
The Miners put up 11 of their 13 runs over the first three innings of the game.
Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) led off the game with a single followed by a
Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) hit by pitch.
Tyler Prince (Mexico, MO/Mexico) singled to score Smith,
Denton Damgaard (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) drove in Meyer and
Nick Krodinger (DeSoto, MO/DeSoto) made it 3-0 with a single.
Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) grounded out to bring Damgaard home and make the score 4-0.
Smith started the second inning with a walk and a stolen base. Meyer scored him with a single. Prince walked and both players stole a bag to advance into scoring position. Krodinger made it 7-0 with a single.
In the third, S&T increased their lead to 11-0.
Jack Bell (Andover, KS/Andover Central) singled, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Meyer was hit by a pitch, advanced to second and both scored on a Prince single. Damgaard was hit by a pitch followed by a Krodinger single to plate Prince.
Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) brought Damgaard home with a sacrifice fly to make the score 11-0.
Starter
Nate Wodka (Allen, TX/Allen) pitched two scoreless innings with two hits and one walk surrendered. The right-hander fanned two to earn his first win of the season.
Lucas Riebeling (Columbia, IL/Columbia) tossed two scoreless frames with two punchouts.
Missouri S&T finalized the score at 13-0 with one run in each the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth,
Landen Roberts (St. Clair, MO/St. Clair) was hit by a pitch, stole second and advanced to third on an error. Bell singled to bring Roberts home. Prince led off the seventh with a double. Damgaard advanced him to third and Prince scored on a wild pitch to make the score 13-0.
Nick Currie (Granville, IL/Putnam County) recorded 2 2/3 scoreless innings with just two baserunners yielded.
Dylan Wipf (Oak Park, IL/River Forest) closed out the game with a strikeout.
The top five of the lineup combined for 11 hits, 11 RBI and 11 runs scored. Prince was 4-for-4 with four runs scored, three RBI and one walk. Krodinger tallied three hits and four RBI, while
Nick Hooper (Grain Valley, MO/Grain Valley) and Bell both had two hits. Meyer stole three bags for the Miners. Smith, Prince, Roberts and Bell all took a base.
S&T improved their record to 15-8 with their shutout win over #17 Harding.
What's Next
The Miners are back in action this weekend at Indianapolis on Mar. 28-30. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 1 p.m. They will go to William Jewell next weekend from Apr. 4-6.
