ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Baseball lost a high-scoring game to #12 Harding on Tuesday afternoon.
Bisons 22, Miners 10
The Bisons went out to a 7-0 lead over the first two innings against S&T. In the third,
Drew Baugus (Kirkwood, MO/Kirkwood) doubled to right field and
Jack Bell (Andover, KS/Andover Central) singled.
Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) drove in Baugus with a sacrifice fly to make the score 7-1.
Tyler Prince (Mexico, MO/Mexico) led off the fourth with a single followed by a stolen base.
Denton Damgaard (Colorado Springs, CO/Cheyenne Mountain HS) singled and
Aiden Cizek (Wildwood, MO/Lafayette) plated Prince via single.
Starter
Kaelan Natyshok (Coal City, IL/Coal City) yielded five runs on two hits and three walks in the first. He took his first loss of the season.
Lucas Riebeling (Columbia, IL/Columbia) relieved with 1 2/3 innings and two unearned runs surrendered.
Trey Kaberline (Gardner, KS/Gardner-Edgerton) tossed 2 1/3 scoreless frames with three strikeouts.
In the fifth inning, the Bisons put up five more runs, but the Miners responded with six runs in the home half. Baugus,
Will Beckham (Mountain Home, AR/Mountain Home) and
Bricen Smith (Perry, GA/Mount de Sales Academy) all walked to start the inning. Baugus scored on a wild pitch before
Garrett Meyer (Jacksonville, IL/Jacksonville) walked. Prince singled to right field to plate Beckham and Damgaard was hit by a pitch to make the score 12-5. Cizek walked with the bases loaded and Alex DiGiacinto put another one up to make the deficit five runs. Damgaard and DiGiacinto pulled off a double steal to make the score 12-8 in favor of Harding.
Gage Lewis (Macon, MO/Macon) gave up four runs in 2/3 of an inning before
Jaden Jones (St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) yielded three runs, two earned, in 1 1/3 innings pitched.
Bryce Morgan (Benton, MO/Kelly) surrendered three runs in two frames and
Juan C Wu (Tegucigalpa, Honduras/Academia Los Pinares) was charged with five runs.
Brandon Hull (Kansas City, MO/Liberty North) fanned two in a scoreless frame.
The Bisons got their five runs back between the seventh and eighth innings. In the home half of the eighth, Prince homered to left field, his second of the 2025 season. Harding put up five more runs in the ninth. S&T closed out the game in the bottom of the ninth with a run.
Tyler Bizzle (Festus, MO/Festus) was hit by a pitch and
Wyatt Chandler (Boerne, TX/Samuel V. Champion) was hit after Bizzle. Smith loaded the bases and Meyer drove in Bizzle with a sacrifice fly to finalize the score at 22-10.
Prince went 3-for-6 with three runs, two RBI and a homer. Baugus recorded two hits and two runs scored for S&T. Prince, Damgaard, Cizek, DiGiacinto and Baugus all stole a bag for the Miners. S&T walked six times and struck out 10 times.
What's Next
The Miners will be on the road this weekend at Maryville from Mar. 14-16. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 3 p.m. S&T will come back home from Mar. 21-23 to face McKendree in a four-game series.
