Volleyball Set for Senior Day as Miners Host Quincy, Illinois Springfield

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T volleyball returns home this weekend for the final matches of the 2025 regular season, hosting Quincy University on Friday and Illinois Springfield on Saturday inside Gibson Arena. The Miners, who have won four of their last five, look to close strong on their home court and potentially climb the Great Lakes Valley Conference standings heading into the postseason.

Saturday's match against Illinois Springfield will also serve as Senior Day, with S&T recognizing its senior class prior to first serve.

About the Miners
Missouri S&T (9-16, 4-7 GLVC) has surged down the stretch, winning four of its last five conference matches. During that run, the Miners earned sweeps over Rockhurst and William Jewell and picked up road wins at McKendree and Southwest Baptist.

Elly Decker (Manhattan, IL/Lincoln Way West) has been the offensive spark throughout the season, leading the team with 197 kills and 35 aces, ranking among the GLVC's most effective servers. Addie Schoenberger (Menomonee Falls, WI/Hamilton Sussex) follows as another key scoring threat with 174 kills, while setter Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) continues to anchor the attack with 468 assists (5.57 per set).

In the middle, Kate Zipprich (Hardin, IL/Calhoun) leads S&T with 104 total blocks (1.24 per set), ranking No. 2 in the GLVC. The Miners' balance has fueled their late-season turnaround, hitting .309 in their recent sweeps, while the defense, paced by Lexi Kosmopolis (O'Fallon, IL/Newsome) (201 digs) and Mya McClain's (Fort Dodge, IA/St. Edmond) steady back-row play, has held opponents to a .196 hitting percentage on the year.

About the Hawks
Quincy (20-5, 9-2 GLVC) enters the weekend near the top of the league standings, riding a seven-match winning streak. The Hawks feature one of the GLVC's most dynamic offenses, hitting .239 as a team and averaging 14.0 kills per set.

Susanna Beretti headlines the attack, leading the GLVC with 4.76 kills per set and a .272 hitting percentage. Setter Elena Kasavica directs the offense with 977 assists (11.1 per set), while Janelle Pye-Blacknard contributes on both sides of the ball with 3.27 kills per set and 3.11 digs per set. Defensively, Lily Marth anchors the back line with 3.6 digs per set, supported by a front row averaging nearly 1.7 blocks per set.

About the Prairie Stars
Illinois Springfield (12-12, 4-7 GLVC) will visit Rolla on Saturday to conclude the regular season for both teams. The Prairie Stars have won three of their last five matches, including a 3-0 victory over Upper Iowa and a hard-fought 3-1 loss to Truman State.

UIS's offense is led by Makenna Cox, who ranks among the GLVC's elite with 3.77 kills per set and a .227 hitting percentage. Kendall Johnson adds 2.89 kills per set, while setter Erica Sledge has dished out nearly 700 assists (7.97 per set). Defensively, libero Tuana Yuce leads UIS with 319 digs, and Lexie Vick anchors the front row with 68 total blocks.

Following the weekend, the Miners will await the final GLVC standings to determine postseason seeding.
