Banasik Named GLVC Offensive Player of the Week After Game-Winning Performances

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T forward Mike Banasik (Loekkegade, Denmark/Hjoering Gymnasium) has been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.

This marks Banasik's first career GLVC weekly honor.

Banasik played a key role in a perfect weekend for the Miners, factoring into both game-winning goals as S&T earned back-to-back home victories over Truman State and William Jewell. The senior recorded an assist on Joao Vieira's (Punta del Este, Uruguay/International College) late game-winner in Friday's 2-1 victory over Truman State, then scored the lone goal in Sunday's 1-0 shutout against William Jewell, to help S&T clinch GLVC tournament berth.

Across the two matches, Banasik tallied one goal, one assist, and four total shots (two on goal) while leading the S&T attack that generated 47 total shots over the weekend.

Banasik now ranks among the team leaders in points and goals as the Miners improved to 9-3-3 overall and 7-3-2 in GLVC play heading into the final week of the regular season.

What's Next
Missouri S&T will close out its regular-season schedule on the road, traveling to Rockhurst on Friday, October 31, before visiting Southwest Baptist on Sunday, November 2.
