MADISON, Ill. – Missouri S&T golf kicked off the 2024-25 season with a second-place finish at the Arch Cup.
In a field of 79 total players and 12 teams, each player shot 36 holes throughout the day.
Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy) headlined for the Miners with a seventh place finish. Komyati finished the first round with a 69 and five total birdies. In the second round, he kept pace with a 72.
Connor Benjamin (Nelson Bay, Australia/St. Philip's Christian College) and
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) were both close behind as they each placed 11
th. Both were above 70 in the first round, but Benjamin shot a 69 in the second, while To recorded a 68.
Nicolas Estrada (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera) ended his day in 23
rd after he shot a 146 and
Joey Friedel (St. Peters, MO/Fort Zumwalt South) finished 43
rd with a 152.
Jack Coleman (Milton Keynes, England/Walton) shot 144 to finish at the top of the individuals.
Thomas Heisner (Crestwood, MO/Lindbergh) shot 156 and
William Charlesworth (Benissa, Spain/Interhigh) recorded a 168.
Drury recorded the victory with a total of 567, while the Miners were six behind at 573. This was the third straight year S&T has placed second at the Arch Cup. Komyati improved from 19th place to seventh from 2023 to 2024.
Missouri S&T is back in action on Sept. 23-24 when they travel to Indianapolis at the UIndy Fall Invitational.
