Six from S&T selected as Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars

ROLLA, Mo. – Six members of Missouri S&T's golf team have been named to the NCAA Division II Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar team for the 2023-24 season for their work in the classroom and play on the course over the past year.

The six selections include the two individuals – Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) and Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) – who were named last week as Academic All-America selections by the College Sports Communicators.  They are joined on the Cobalt team by Connor Benjamin (Nelson Bay, Australia/St. Philip's Christian College), Nicolas Estrada (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera), Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy) and Issac To, as Missouri S&T was the only institution on the list to have as many as six individuals selected.

To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore both academically and athletically, have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's competitive rounds and have a stroke average under 78 for the season.  In the classroom, eligible student-athletes must have at least at 3.2 grade point average and be in good standing at their institution.

Miltun graduated with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering and recorded the lowest average score among the Miners during the season at 70.7 strokes per round while Thybo, a physics major at S&T, averaged 72.6 shots per round during the season.  Benjamin and Komyati also averaged under 73 shots per round as Benjamin – a nuclear engineering major – was at 72.8 and Komyati finished at 72.9 while studying mechanical engineering.

To is majoring in information science & technology and averaged 73.3 shots per round this season and Estrada, an aerospace engineering major, averaged 73.8 on the year.

The six Miners named to the All-America Scholar team are among 226 student-athletes in NCAA Division II that were honored, including 22 from schools representing the Great Lakes Valley Conference.
