EMPORIA, Kan. – Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) earned Missouri S&T's second All-America honor in as many days Friday afternoon as he finished in sixth place in the discus throw at the NCAA Division II Championships at Emporia State University.

Fraser, who entered the national meet ranked 12^th in the event, posted his best throw in the third round and remained among the top eight in the event to earn his first All-America honor of his collegiate career.  It also marks the second year in succession and eighth all-time in which more than one Miner earned All-America honors at the NCAA's outdoor championships.

Fraser fouled on his first two throws of the competition, but recorded a throw of 175-0 in round three that moved him into second place at the close of the first flight of throws.  He remained in the top eight – in fifth place – following the second flight to put him into the finals.

Fraser was passed in the standings by Missouri Southern's Gabe Ford in round five, but his previous throw was good enough to keep him in the sixth spot for the balance of the competition that was won by Truman State's Jacob Morris with a mark of 189-5.

The top fix finishers in the discus throw represented schools from either the Great Lakes Valley Conference – where Fraser was the conference champion in the event – or Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.

In the decathlon, Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) finished in 14^th place with a final total of 5,870 points in the nine events he completed.

Knittel opened the day by scoring 810 points in the 110-meter hurdles after posting a time of 15.33 seconds, then had a throw of 116-6 in the discus before clearing 12-5½ in the pole vault.  He finished the day with a mark of 115-7 in the javelin, but did not run in the 1,500-meters in its entirety.

Pittsburg State's Hunter Jones, who had the best mark in three of the 10 events, won the multi-events with a final total of 7,898 points.

The Miners also scored points at the NCAA Division II Championships on Thursday when Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) finished fourth in the hammer throw.
