NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – Thanks to a medalist performance by Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) and the best round shot by any team on the course on Tuesday, Missouri S&T's golf team vaulted past Indianapolis into the second spot at the conclusion of the Ken Partridge Invitational held at Purgatory Golf Club.

Thybo has a strong front end of his final round of play with three birdies and an eagle over the first nine holes to move into the lead and retained it for the remainder of the day as he finished with a 67 for the second straight round.  As one of only two players to shoot under 70 in round three, he finished the tournament with 13 birdies and his eagle on the fifth hole Tuesday was one of 10 recorded by the 96 players in the three-day event.  Thybo finished with a final score of 207 in the tournament.

Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) also had a top-five finish as he ended up fifth at 217 after finishing with a 73 on Tuesday, a round that saw him record four birdies along the way.  Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy) finished in a tie for 12th after he also posted a 73 that included five birdies to finish at 221.

S&T's other two finishers were Connor Benjamin (Nelson Bay, Australia/St. Philip's Christian College), who finished with a final score of 227 and Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School), who ended the event with a score of 233.

The Miners' final team score of 869 was six shots in back of Grand Valley State, but S&T was eight shots better than UIndy on Tuesday to pass the Greyhounds by four shots.  Thybo ended up five shots in front of the second day leader, UIndy's Maverick Conaway to earn his second medalist honor of the season and third by a Miner in the 2023-24 campaign.

Missouri S&T's next competition will be at the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championships, which are slated for April 21 and 22 at Paradise Point Golf Course in Smithville, Mo.
