ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T's
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville), who ranks among the top five in the Great Lakes Valley Conference in three throwing events, has been named as the Field Athlete of the Week by the conference office.
Fraser placed fourth in the discus throw at the Mule Relays at Central Missouri last week with a mark of 181-1, the seventh-best throw of the season in NCAA Division II and the second-best in the GLVC this spring. In addition, Fraser recorded a mark of 54-2¾ to finish fifth in the shot put that was just shy of his season best and also finished sixth in the hammer throw with a mark of 189-11.
Fraser owns the best mark in the GLVC in the shot put this season and also has the fourth-best throw in the hammer, with NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in all three events.
He is the fourth Miner to earn the GLVC's weekly award this season, joining
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw),
Lucas Rackers (Florissant, MO/St. Louis University HS) and
Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill).
Missouri S&T will host the Dewey Allgood Invitational Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
