WARRENSBURG, Mo. – Missouri S&T's men's track & field team got an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark from
Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) Friday in the hammer throw and had a total of five top-three finishes to highlight its efforts at the Mule Relays held at the University of Central Missouri.
Fraser had a season-best mark of 189-11 to place sixth in the hammer throw, while also improving on his top mark of the season when he added a fourth place showing in the discus of 181-1. He would later placed fifth in the shot put with his top mark of 54-2¾.
Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) took second in the hammer throw with a mark of 210-10; he led the competition going into the final round of throws until Missouri Southern's Peyton Barton uncorked a throw 223-5 to surpass him to win the event. The Miners also got a second place finish from
Henry Born (Lake Quivira, KS/Shawnee Mission Northwest) in the 1,500-meters in 3:53.06.
S&T got third place finishes from
Rhet Liley (Jackson, MO/Jackson) in the javelin with a mark of 190-8,
Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield) in the 110-meter hurdles in 14.57 seconds and from
Tristan Jones (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the triple jump with a mark of 44-9½.
Isaac Pollard (Lindale, TX/Lindale) had a fourth place showing in the pole vault as he cleared 14-6 and
Daniel Garrison (Liberty, MO/Liberty) was fifth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:34.08 as was
Sam Wright (Hillsboro, MO/Hillsboro) in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.07 seconds.
Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) finished sixth in the 100-hurdles in 15.34 seconds and added a ninth place finish in the 400-hurdles in 57.11 seconds, while
Reece Johnson (Festus, MO/Festus) took sixth in the 200-meters in 22.10 seconds.
Justis Braden (Liberty, MO/Liberty North) was seventh in the javelin at 177-6 as was Samuel Schmidt in the 100-meter dash in 10.94 seconds and
Xander Hall (Lee's Summit, MO/Lee's Summit) tied for eighth in the pole vault with a clearance of 14-feet.
Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) was eighth in the triple jump at 42-7½, and ninth in the long jump with a leap of 21-10¾, while Jones was right behind him in the standings at 21-8 in the long jump and
Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) tied for 10
th in the high jump as he cleared 6-1¼.
Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) was 10
th in the 1,500-meters in 3:58.34 as was Burke in the 200-meters in 22.26 seconds, while
Tyler Marchert (Frankfort, IL/Lincoln-Way East) was just outside the top 10 in the shot at 50-0½.
The Miners will host the Dewey Allgood Invitational next Saturday at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
