Women's Volleyball Welcome Maryville on Saturday

ROLLA, Mo. – Missouri S&T Women's Volleyball is set to play Maryville on Saturday afternoon at Gibson Arena.

Missouri S&T (8-16, 4-6 GLVC) vs. Maryville (14-10, 8-2 GLVC) Nov. 9 at 3 p.m.

Maryville comes into this matchup as one of the hottest teams in the GLVC with four straight wins. Their 8-2 conference record is tied for second in the GLVC with Rockhurst. The Saints have already clinched a spot in the GLVC tournament. In their four-match win streak, they have lost only four sets.

Ella Brinkmann currently leads the Saints with 3.38 kills per set and 314 total kills this season. She also leads the team with 38 service aces and is fourth with 36 blocks. On the defensive side, Taylor Hasbrook is third in the conference in digs per set at 5.59. Her 520 total digs lead all defensive players.

In their all-time matchup, the Miners are 21-1 against the Saints dating back to 2008. Their lone loss came earlier this season in a non-conference matchup at the Quincy Classic. Maryville won that five-set match 3-2 after Brinkman put up 17 kills and 14 digs. Hasbrook also recorded 23 digs in that match back on Sept. 13.

About The Miners

S&T is coming off an 0-3 weekend against Flagler, Lewis and Indianapolis on the road. Against Lewis on Friday night, Jordan Burton (Olathe, KS/Olathe South) broke the all-time kill record with 1,318 career kills. The Miners are just outside the top eight in the GLVC in ninth place. With three matches to go, S&T can catapult up to the top eight with a win this weekend.

Alina Carrillo (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) leads S&T with 321 kills and 3.61 kills per set. Her 27 aces are first and her 3.39 digs per set is second. Isabelle Monaco (O'Fallon, MO/Living Word Christian) leads the Miners in digs per set at 3.64. At the net, Madison Smith (Boonville, MO/Boonville) has picked up 104 total blocks and 1.18 blocks per set. That mark is third in the GLVC.

In their 2-3 loss against Maryville earlier this season, Carrillo picked up 20 kills and 18 digs for S&T. Monaco also had a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs. Avery Jones (Broken Arrow, OK/Broken Arrow) recorded 22 digs and Elise Mehaffy (Marion, IA/Marion) collected 26 assists.

What's Next

Following the weekend, the Miners have two more regular season matches. They will welcome Truman State on Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. Senior Day is slated for Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. versus Upper Iowa.
