INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T got a school record performance from Jacob Luebbert (Warsaw, MO/Warsaw) Friday night and an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying performance from Owen Fraser (Kirksville, MO/Kirksville) in the weight throw to highlight the start of the weekend for the S&T track and field teams that are competing at two meets.

Luebbert was one of two Miners to win events on Friday at the IUPUI Invitational as he won the weight throw with a school record mark of 67-10¾, which he reached on his final attempt of the evening.  The mark is now the third-best in Division II for the 2024 season.  In addition, Fraser made a provisional mark in that event on his final effort of 60-3¼ that earned him a third place finish.

Andrew Bacon (Webster Groves, MO/Webster Groves) was the other individual winner for the Miners as he captured the men's mile race, edging Northern Kentucky's Jacob Line with a winning time of 4:16.78.  Paulvin Horton (Raleigh, NC/Garner) took second in the high jump as he cleared 6-7, with Otto Knittel (Spring Hill, KS/Spring Hill) finishing 13th at 5-8¾, while Joshua Nunn (Independence, MO/Truman) was second in the 5,000-meters in 15:28.71, just ahead of teammate Joshua Patterson (Cameron, NC/Union Pines) who finished third in 15:37.87.

Kyle Burke (Plainfield, IL/Plainfield), Luke Myszka (Downs, IL/Tri-Valley) and Knittel all qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday, with Burke having the best time of the group of 8.34 seconds.

Emma Puetz was the lone women's competitor to finish among the top 12 in an event at IUPUI Friday, placing 11th in the 5,000-meters in 18:45.34.

At the Principia Relays, Kevin McCole (St. Charles, MO/Francis Howell) placed second in the weight throw with a mark of 51-0¼ as did Donovan Bryant (Junction City, KS/Junction City) in the high jump as he cleared 6-0½, Justin Chadwell (Norwood, MO/Norwood) finished fourth in the long jump with a leap of 20-3¾ and Nathan Apple (Louisburg, KS/Louisburg) qualified for the finals in the 60-meter hurdles with his time of 8.66 seconds.
