INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Missouri S&T's golf team made an 11-shot improvement from the first to second round on Monday, but sits in sixth place in the team standings after two rounds of play at the UIndy Invitational at Broodmoor Country Club.
The Miners posted a team mark of 296 in the opening round, but cut the mark down to a three-under 285 in round two to finish the day at five-over-par.
Carl Miltun (Gilbert, AZ/Williams Field) finished with a three-under-par score of 141 to lead the Miners through the first day, as he had seven birdies during the two rounds of play and finished round two with a score of 69.
Isaac To (Petaling Jaya, Malaysia/Real International School) posted a one-under score of 143 and
Jeppe Thybo (Esbjerg, Denmark/Rybners Gymnasium) finished with a two-over-par 146 on the afternoon, while
Nicolas Estrada (Zaragoza, Spain/IES Valdespartera) overcame a first round score of 79 to shoot a one-over-par 73 in round two and
Cole Komyati (Elberta, AL/Bayside Academy) did likewise as he had a 73 in the second round after shooting an 82 in round one.
Grand Valley State recorded a 13-under-par score of 563 to lead by four shots over Ferris State and nine over Wayne State (Mich.) after two rounds of play. Ferris State shot a 279 to lead after the opening round, but GVSU's 279 in round two allowed the Lakers to take the lead.
The tournament will conclude with a single round on Tuesday.
